We are a coalition of 3 long-standing Detroit urban farming organizations on a collective mission to rebuild inter-generational land ownership for Black Farmers in Detroit. In collaboration, the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network  (DBCFSN), Oakland Avenue Urban Farm, and Keep Growing Detroit created the Detroit Black Farmer Land Fund on Juneteenth 2020. When COVID hit Detroit and we watched everything we know, change. The weight of both food and land insecurity, loomed heavy. As uprisings raged across the globe the stage was set for bold, collaborative, forward-thinking action, and mutual aid. As community-rooted institutions, we intentionally joined forces and led this charge to continue the work of the local Black community to transform Detroit’s food apartheid into a vibrant food sovereign ecosystem
